Staff Additions to Steinhilber, Swanson, Mares, Marone & McDermottOshkosh, WI, July 14, 2011 Steinhilber, Swanson, Mares, Marone & McDermott welcomes Rebecca Westphal and Heather Saladin to the firm. Rebecca Westphal joins the firm as the Business Manager. Westphal will be responsible for Accounting and Finances, Human Resources, Marketing, and Facilities Management. Previous to joining the firm, Westphal worked for Fox Cities Construction, and Clifton Gunderson LLP. She is a native of Rosendale and attended Carthage College graduating with BA degrees in accounting and business administration. Heather Saladin joins the firm as an assistant to Attorney Paul Swanson, specializing in corporate and consumer bankruptcy. Most recently she was with Sorenson Law Office, Ripon. Saladin comes to the firm with over seven years of experience in the legal field. She attended Carol University, Waukesha graduating with a BA in English with a minor in Business Administration. Saladin and her husband reside in Oshkosh.
McDermott Honored for Education EffortsOshkosh, WI, March 21, 2011 J. Thomas (Tom) McDermott was honored March 21 with the Oshkosh Chamber's Education Leadership Award. The award was given during Celebrate Education, an event sponsored by the Oshkosh Chamber, the Oshkosh Area School District, Mid-Morning Kiwanis, Wisconsin Public Service Corp. and the Oshkosh Area Community Foundation. McDermott was among exceptional educators, administrators and volunteers honored that evening. After graduating from the 1993 Leadership Oshkosh class, McDermott began volunteering for the Oshkosh Area School District by serving on parent advisory committees and school site councils. He then decided his talents would be best put to use by serving on the Oshkosh Area School Board. He has served on the board since 2002. McDermott will end his tenure on the board this spring as he has chosen not to seek re-election. "Tom has proven to be a pragmatic, solution-oriented asset on the board," said Cecil Streeter, education coordinator for the Oshkosh Chamber. "Tom is a positive force for quality."

Swanson has been Board Certified by the American Board of Certification in both business and consumer bankruptcy since 1993, a distinction shared by only a handful of bankruptcy attorneys in Wisconsin.
